ROTOR ROBOT
The candy striped beauty. Also available in a red/green combination. Never seen the box. Anyone got a photo?
ASTO ROBOT
A well kept secret among collectors! This rarity shuffles along on four legs with an action similar to the Mr Monster Robot. (See below)
The Astronaut Mars Pioneer
One of pair of plastic astronauts. This is the orange version, the Mars Pioneer. Clearly inspired by "2001, A Space Odyssey". Made in Hong Kong but there's not a hint of a manufacturer's logo on the box.
Made of that particularly cheap looking plastic with painted details. There's a simple stepover walking action. The long body and short legs give it a goofy appearance, reminiscent of the little Marx wind up Frankenstein. Still, it's a great astronaut.
The Astronaut Lunar Explorer
The white version of the Mars Pioneer, though they're not from the same mold - all the minor detailing on the body is different, as is the face.
Both robots come in a very unusual triangular box. The box carries the details of both robots and is intended to suit either version. The artwork is particulary good.
EXPLO ROBOT
By Bandai. See thru freatures and the Dux Astromans antenna. "A nervous wreck. Watch him go to pieces." There are two box variations.
MR ROBOT JUNIOR
Another little see-thru robot from Bandai. Runs off AA bateries.
GIANT ROBOT
This is the R Robot in Kitahara's Tin Toys book. It's a large beast with a remote control that allows you to steer the robot around. it works much better than the Robert the Robot steering action. Made by Bandai and released through Sears.
MR 45
Another delightful plastic robot that is little known except among collectors willing to pay big bucks. It's an MT remote controlled robot. Four missiles in the chest provide a new slant on the Attacking Martian armament. Anyone got a better picture?
SUPER ROBOT
I
think this is by Yoshiya (KO). It's another variation of the much travelled
Venus Robot. You can also find Hong Kong (Telsalda) versions. The box is the
interesting part - the plain plastic robot is a slight anticlimax.
ROBOTER 700
As rare as rocking horse dung. A plastic robot from Germany. Made, I believe, in the 1950s. Thanks Henk, for the photo - sorry you missed the robot!!
MECHANICAL ROBOT
I've seen another robot with this style of propulsion called the Shaking Robot. I can't work out what form of motion that cog at the bottom will provide. Any info? I love that art work depiction of a robot.
SHAKING ROBOT
And here it is. A Cragstan toy that wobbles along.
MR MONSTER ROBOT
Recent (1970s) robot from Hong Kong by Amico. It's bizarre shape and eccentric walking action are its main attractions. Also available in a red/green/yellow combination. There's also a blue/white version called the Walking Space Robot.
