When my wife passed away, I sold several of my full size bots. Gort, B9, Dewey, my studio scale flying sub, all gone to pay down debt. I threw stuff in the robot room and used it for storage for six months. Things stabilized and I found another B9, this one with a lot more working parts than either of my two previous B9s. So weekend before last I flew to NYC, rented a mini van and drove B9 III back to Florida in a 19 hour marathon trip. With the new B9 in place, the robot room is open again. I don't really miss the others-Gort was too damn big anyway. But Robby looked sad without his cousin B9. Now things are normal as they ever will be. Only problem is B9 III came from a heavy smoker, so he reeks a bit, but Bob May used to smoke alot inside the original, so it's probably more authentic that way......

Thanks Pat, good guidelines. And thanks David, for the kind words. I am not one to broadcast things when life throws you a curve, I prefer to keep up a positive front, even when things are less than positive. Let's just say 2012 was a year I will enjoy forgetting. I learned you cannot assume you will be in control of tomorrow, so I am scrambling to make sure all my affairs and obligations are in order, lest someone gets stuck with extra burdens...... always, just in case.

Last year I became a single dad, so estate planning is on my mind. While I would hope to have many years to worry, I also thought it would never occur that I would outlive my spouse. I have started to put the boxes near the robots they belong to, so at least they have a better chance of being sold separately. Perhaps this could be a business model for someone--liquidating collections for survivors. I plan to make a list of what I think they should bring, but like Keith said above, someone could get in here before any papers are opened and do a lot of harm selling stuff off if they were unaware of the value.
