Not the rarest, but easily the finest. A picture of a boxed example in Antique Toy World left me speechless.

Thanks Mike. I just don't know where to begin with this oddity.

The programme's main focus is those rather inadequate people whose collections reflect sadness in their lives. They'll urge you to sell robots at a car boot sale just so that you can make some room for your wife to sleep. They are not interested in your collection: milk bottles, beer cans, carrots shaped like willies, the more stupid the better.

Seriously, this is a mockumentary and they want collectors with problems. I'm sure that we don't have anyone here who fits the bill. :rolling:

In Topic: Early Japanese Wind Up Space Machine Guns

Yes, I wondered about their space credentials but decided to let visitors decide for themselves.

Is this early Japanese wind up machine gun a space gun?

Well, of course it is. It's the highly desirable (to me at least) Universal Gun, unknown maker, and later copied by Mettoy. What's it got that makes it more spacey than the examples above? Arguably it's less so with that beige coloring. They at least have that blue-red-white space palette. They all have that ribbed effect at the back of the barrel that I associate with some space guns.

So what is the one feature that establishes it as a top collectible? It has a box that says it's a space gun, and that raises quite a few questions.

Great piece with a unique abstract design. It should make a buzzing noise.
