You talked me into it.  One day when I am feeling brave and haven't had too much coffee, I think I will attempt to fix it.  For now, it will sit on the shelf.

Thanks for the advice and the gear info.  Does anyone have any pictures of what the robot looks like inside?  I did a search and could not locate any.
