Been thinking about what Tinman/Bill said concerning the restoration of plastic toys and wanted to add this. While it does have a bit more sheen now than before, it was still very difficult to get the pic of the sheen due to the lighter color of the tanker. For the most part it would be hard to notice the shine in person. But it feels fantastic,,,,LOL

Thank you Andyman and Roboto! I have been looking for one of these Archer Tankers for a while. I forgot to mention, I removed all the rust to the axles by using a rust eraser, does exactly what it sounds like it would. You rub it over the rusted area, a bit of elbow grease obviously, and while it makes a lot of rubber dust all over, once you use a little compressed air, no worries. Next I used Birchwood Casey gun scrubber to clean it and wipe it off. Then I used some Quick Release oil because it attaches itself to the molecules left behind and slowly removes whatevers left.  They'll never rust again, as long as I own it anyway.

I will say this, judging by my first pic, it did have a bit of a sheen to it originally, somewhat. Obviously this is a very fixable thing. All I would have to do is to dull it up then stop short of polishing it too much. However I won't be doing that.

Really good question Bill! Not knowing what it would've been originally, I might've gone too far but I really didn't like the matt finish at all.
