What Are The Chances Of Finding A Tommy Ray Gun Battery Cover?

04 December 2014 - 09:28 PM

Hi All!

I, like many others, have a Tommy Ray Gun missing the beehive looking battery cover on the back -

Do these EVER turn up? Is it a lost cause trying to complete this gun?  Should i just sell it as is and buy a complete one??

I bought this one because it came with a pretty nice shape box, but the gun could use some work  :)

Thanks for your thoughts!

It's me latest art release titled "Shoot your eye out."

It got a nice write up on this Art toy blog today, so if you are interested, I would love some feedback   :)

Why is this 80's "ray" gun / toy gun so hard to find? (Ray

22 January 2014 - 06:33 PM

Hi All -

Not really a ray gun, but it does have kinda spacey smooth lines - So I hope its OK to ask here -

But this was like THE toy gun of my childhood. Kid of the 80's.  Every Grocery store, 5 and 10, toy store, drug store all seemed to carry these Orange Rayline Zebra II guns. They were really cheap - I would buy a FEW each summer. My friends and I would go NUTS with them. Houses littered with yellow rubber BBs.... (The Rayline tracer gun in the 80s with similar packaging was a runner up - also cant seem to find one)

I mean they were EVERYWHERE. So when I thought about buying a few as kind of a gag gift for my friends, I figured they would be a dime a dozen on ebay. But for the life of me, I cannot find a SINGLE ONE for sale....    Is there ANY reason for this??  I have no idea how they could be rare, as I remember it being harder to find a store that DIDNT have them, than did.

There are some vintage ones on ebay - But I really just want the orange 80s version I grew up with...

Anyone know the story behind it?
