Before adding this to the Timeline, I'd like a little more info about it.

This 1953 toy was made by Elmar Products Co. N.Y. I believe the box is marked Flying Planet Explorer.

The description, those parts of it I can make out, says:

Flying Space Explorer is a space

ship that really flys. A ?????????

??? drops ???????? "???? ?????"

Each Space Explorer is individually

boxed with a launcher ????????

?????????????????????????

and nylon strings. Elmar Products

Co., 15 W. 24th St., New York ??

Has anyone seen it before? Have one in their collection? A better picture?

I used to have pics of one of these from an eBay auction but I must have purged them at some point.

I guess I got this rocket after Joe's post  and when I posted it under space plastic no one responded.

Brian..

I missed the pictures the first time around. That's a good looking piece with a real feel of the early Pyro styling. I guess it flies along a string and drops the pilot at some point. The nose looks like a trigger for the action.

That s a nice looking spaceship. I agree with Brian, the nose of it appears to be some sort of trigger.

When the nose is depressed the trap door opens and drops what from the interior of the rocket?  Copy reads:

Elmar Products Company

New York 10, NY

No. 4970

Made in U.S.A.  Patent no. 2594527

File this one under the heading "Everything Old is New Again".

From a decade later comes this 1962 1963 Helen Gallagher-Foster House Christmas catalog and this ad:

I wonder if this was an Elmar re-release?
