Rocket Ships Dart Game

Recommended Posts

Before I make the Timeline post, I'd like to find out the true name of this dart game and its manufacturer:

It's from 1943. Note the unusual dart "gun". Besides the bullseye, the other scoring factor are the two rocket ships at the top which can be knocked off the board. Perhaps, the lower, smaller rocket ships can be dislodged as well. Could this seventy year old toy be the very first Space Target Game ever made?

Anybody recognize it?

You know Joe, "someone could put their eye out" with stuff like that!!" Hey, we survived a lot of death-defying events didn't we? :rolling:

Thanks for posting this.

You got that right, Mike.

With a couple refinements, that dart "gun" is based on slingshot technology.

I find it interesting that they show a girl in the ad. Rather progressive for the time, eh?

That's Katy Perry in that ad...she's older than we think. :diablo:

The 1940 Sears Christmas book shows the NEW big Rocket Shot game. so this must have been the first year for Rocket Shot.

Still can't find a Goggle Image of the toy and/or box, though.
