Monkees Commic

I remember a few years ago I admitted to being a Monkees fan...worrying I would get the same response from you guys as I get from a lot of people. First they laugh then scream at me saying WHY NOT LIKE A REAL GROUP? They WERE a real group...no matter what the reason they got together. But to my surprise, lots of you guys came on here and put my mind at ease as you all also admitted to being fans of the Monkees and how you have lots of their records, CD's and on our Ipods. SO I am Facebook friends with comic book artist Al Bigley. He sent me this which was drawing by Jim Aparo, DC Artist. So what better place to post it.

And I guess it appeared in this magazine. I only posted this because of the space theme.

Can they reference anymore Monkee songs? ;)

Man, I loved the Monkees. I still dig their music. I got in a lot of fights defending them as a real band.

Yeah, I found that clever myself...and how it worked so well...except the line "You ain't goin' no where." That was Lon Chaney's line in the Monkees in a Ghost town episode. But yeah, me too...the arguments about a real band and all. They may have started out as prefab...but they did become a real band. As Dolenz once said...it's like they were Leonard Nimoy really becomming a vulcan.

I just put the two CD set of the Monkees Anthology on my iPhone two weeks ago. Here are some pictures fellow Monkees fans might find interesting...

I also met Peter Tork but that was in the days before my digital camera so I'd need to scan that photo. Probably never meet Nesmith.

Wow...I jealous. Seriously. Well I did meet Micky at the local Autorama years ago, back in the eighties during that big resurgence they had, and saw them in concert every time they were here since the eighties. I got Micky to sign a copy of Headquarters for me. I would love to meet the rest before time takes them, but as you said, Nesmith will probably be a no show. I took this at a concert back in 88.
