Magic Robot Game

Brian..

German Versions:

1 Der Magische Roboter: German version. Merit released versions for other countries. Here Merit kids have been recycled as little kinder. Archer Robot Released by Schmid. A virtually identical Austrian version exists.

2 The second picture is a fairly recent release by Schmid:

3 The third is Die Losung. It's connected with cigarettes, somehow, but it's clearly a magic robot game.

Here's one Dutch version. Robot Geeft Het Juiste Antwoord. "Robot Gives The Right Answer" Henk said about this: "It is dated +/- '57. Jumbo are the inventors. As they sold it abroad the robot changed. there is a red metallic version, a golden and a green one."

Yes it is. It was made by a company called Thos Holdsworth & Sons Ltd Auckland which used the name Holdson on it's products. The same box and contents were also sold in Australia by Murfett but still made by Holdson. Here are a couple of pictures from a recent auction, the first one shows the Holdson logo (albeit upside down).

Joes 1935 catolog find is GREAT ! Is that first robot toy in a catolog to be called a ROBOT. The 1919 Houdia paper robot was given out as a mechanical man, the word robot was not used.

Here is another Greek version The Electronic Robot. A photo of a Horikawa robot has been used instead of the actual robot supplied in the game.
