Thanks everyone for you nice comments. They are much appreciated.

Andy, the clear top is a polycarbonate bird feeder cover. The bottom dome is a stainless IKEA mixing bowl. The top and bottom saucer dishes are two aluminum heat reflectors from propane patio heaters. Gort's conical navigation controls are wine bottle stoppers.

Videos are great . Love the one with the Saucer 1 as it spins with its red blinking lights very cool. :)

Thanks AtomicRobot. The Gort Saucer was more complicated than the Robby Saucer I had done earlier. The Robby Saucer is simpler because it is solar powered and spends three seasons outside in the garden. You can see it here:

WOW this is a very nice SAUCER, I really like GORT

I have a couple ones and several posters of the movie in my house

I bought the DVD that has the original movie and the one with

Jennifer Connelly and Keanu Reeves and it came with a 5'' gort Robot.
