For reference I wanted to post a pic of this flea market find, a spaceman keychain of unknown manufacture and date.

Bill, I may be wrong but I believe that's a parachute spaceman. I have similar ones that came with a parachute attached that you throw into the air or drop from somewhere and the chute opens. Mine is about 4" including the ring. It also could be a keyring as you mentioned. :D

This ones a bit small for a parachute and did come with a chain attached.

I wanted to update this thread with some recent additions to my collection, completing the spaceman keychain set. Everything points to there being four figures in all although Ive been unable to identify the manufacturer or approximate age. Even though theyre in the style of 1950s spacemen and always sold as vintage items, they may be more recent. Last week I emailed a person selling a box of the keychains in 2010 and even though theyre long gone he remembers the box being plain cardboard, lacking graphics or manufacturer. Does a plain cardboard box point to a China, Hong Kong, etc. origin?

Recent additions:

Pics found on the interweb, chains included. Does the style of chain date them to the 50s, 60s, or 70s?

This is a pic Phil posted in March 2008 after he won the Archer vehicle, the figure included in the auction is a gold chrome spaceman keychain. Proof the keychain is a contemporary of the Archer car?

Thank you for posting these, Bill! Instead of using up bandwidth thought I would keep these with their own. Just picked up the gold chrome version last week, next to the yellow guy I picked up a few weeks earlier. Something new to hunt for now.

Very nice Bill! Are they attached to the wall in some way, inside those boxes?

I use the same type of magnets used to mount my ray guns and displayed the boxed set on an Ikea magnetic board; the two felt pads were added for stability. I also put a few small pieces of masking tape over the magnet (not shown in pic) cause the magnets are so darned strong.

I also use magnets (the peel and stick kind) to display my pinbacks on an Ikea board:

Gotcha, so the pinned box lid keeps the box from opening while on the wall as well? Mine for now, are standing on the little "space case".

Hopefully in the near future I can get something else to display them better.

Thank you Bill, it's a modest collection but I really enjoy looking at it all.

Well Bill, I just tried to buy a white one like your green one, on ebay last week, but the seller sent me a message today saying she lost the white one

so she wanted to know if she could send me a red one just like it. Even better! More color is always better.
