Kino has updated their "restoration" link:

The DVD/Blu-ray will be available in November.

And, in a related story, a rare Metropolis Insert Movie Poster recently sold for $47,800.

I was watching those posters with particular interest in what the Kong would bring. Both were fantastic pieces. I haven't been able to find any info why Kirk was selling though. He also recently sold his mansion. I wonder if times are getting hard for Metallica. wink.gif

I finaly saw this on a large movie screen ( as compared to a large tv set) at a small local art theater.
I had not seen this movie for along time and greatly injoyed it.
The theater used the blue ray edition for the limited distribution showing.
I will get the DVD when it is avaialble.
I was also able to buy one of the limited edition movie posters.
Get black and white image of Hel being tranformed to Maria.
Same as the cover for the Blue Ray edition but with out the Blue Ray notice at the top.
Have Fun !

I just watched the restored Metropolis on TCM. All I can say is WOW! Having seen all the previous versions, this one takes all the disjointed scenes and makes sense of them. The documentary of the restoration featured a long pan of the 16" Masudaya False Maria robot.

Truly one of the most important sci-fi pictures of all time.

I don't know if this is the same poster but apparently this 1927 Metropolis poster is coming up for sale and is expected to fetch at least a million dollars according to Yahoo news
