I got the DInosaur version of this gun... it was marked as WITTY Toys - Hong Kong ?

Thanks a lot GIlbert and Brian ! Astroboy is definitely one of the most "humane" robots of all times... It is really nice to see Tezuka's work come to life through these toys.

Here is an interesting link with some very nice close-ups of space toys on Laika :

http://mashable.com/2014/10/02/soviet-space-dogs/ (review of book on Soviet Space Dogs : http://fuel-design.com/publishing/soviet-space-dogs/)

I never trully understood why Russians would put dogs and mice in space and Americans monkeys...

... These came in a number of colors with different numbering at the front.

This is the one I found over here in Portugal :

A real beauty ! Thank you for posting this !
  6. geoffreypeeters added a post in a topic: Build it and paint it - bot / terrific box !

I came around this thing in Belgium last month... It is definitely a repro, but strangely the embossed tin box is lithoed like it was made in China in the 70ies... and it has French wording at the bottom:

KIT DE ROBOT EN BOIS A PEINDRE ET A ASSEMBLER.

It comes with wooden blocks, tube of white glue and paint + brush.

Here is a picture of both the big scale ("normal sized") 3 inch spaceman next to the little ones...

The saucer is the biggest of the bunch - there is a Matchbox (Lesney) original box (yellow) next to it for scale.

The bus is 10 inches long.

The CO-MA spacemen are really tiny -1.2 inches for the astronaut - smaller for the aliens.

Yesterday, there was one of the big toy-fairs in Lisbon. Not a lot of Space-related toys (mainly cars and soldiers) but the ones showing up were quite amazing.

    Of interest :

This is the RAJÁ space-station. This is one of the holly grails for lots of Portuguese toy collectors. You received the spacemen/aliens as a "brinde" (free gift) when you bought icecream, but the spacecraft itself was only available by drawing lots. I know of blue and red ones. Maybe other colors do exist.

A carded set of CO-MA mini aliens and spacemen :

... and last but not least, a very rare futuristic bus produced by PSA (Plásticos de Santo António - LEIRIA). This is only the second version I see of this toy. The toy museum in Sintra has a green w/red interior one - with driver (this one is without).

These are not mine Alessandro. It seems they "vanished" at this point.

I don't know if they produced any pistol or not. I have never seen one (yet). But I never saw these rifles before either... All I know is that there has been some swapping of plastic-injection molds between the US, the UK and Portugal.

They are rare even here Alessandro. I have lived in Portugal for over 10 years now, attended most toy-shows and flea markets over here and I just discovered these this year. The truth is that my interest in them suddenly "woke up" a lot of other collectors who did not have any idea of what they had in their hands (this is how I got the rifles seen above). Even the big toy museum here in Sintra, with the largest collection of Portuguese plastic toys, does not have any example. Most Portuguese collectors tend to give all their attention to soldiers and cars.

Brian, I found other color variations of the Portuguese version !

It seems they have been made in lots of other colors... same 3 vents, glue marks on the plastic, monochrome barrel and ... no markings.

The gold coloured Argentinian version is pretty cool, though !

    Especially the box !

Thanks to you all for sharing these pictures ! It's always nice for the mortals of us that could not make it up to there !

Another question remains Brian: what about the "Ametralladora Espacial" that is on the database ?

It has the same origins, but, just like Pyro, it has the 4 vents and not 3 like the Portuguese version... Does someone has a maker yet ?
