Andy,,,,,,It's still very exciting, but very slow going...Should have something positive to tell all of you (Alphadrome gets a big mention in the introduction) in to be realistic a couple of months time. That's why I've been so quiet.. I've still got a lot of friends and family enthusiastically helping me out.
Here'sa pic of the pair of robots that got me so sidetracked. Hope the pics are not to big..Old habits die hard.

Love the new direction.........What,s the next move,,,,Skin !
  3. Sparkrobot added a post in a topic: Roboter 700 - one more has survived !

Gernot,,,,,,I'm so pleased for you.......Myself being a Big fan of Plastics as far as I'm concerned you have managed to aquire not only an extremely rare robot but one I personaly deem as the Holy Grail of vintage robots.

Alle,,,,,,,,I only pop in now and again these days but I had to reply as I was very impressed with your robot choices especially the nice selection of plastics......I know you will really enjoy alphadrome, only wished I had more time to spend here myself.
Infact as soon as my book gets published I will make it my new years resolution.See you then.

Morbius,,,,,So sad to hear of your loss. I have grown ever closer to my dad these last few years and can really feel sympathise with how you must be feeling.
Remember all the great times you had with him, I am sure this will help bring you some comfort.

    Speak to you later.

A belated Merry Christmas to all my alphadrome friends.Sorry everyone for not visiting my much loved alphadrome much recently, but I seem to have taken up all my time writing , printining and promototing my book
[ Working titles? IRON JACK 1894... or THE MECHANICAL MARVELS OF PROFESSOR POSTLEWAITE...]

Either way with a bit of help from my eldest son and his girlfriend it seems it will be published sometime in the new year.I have only let a handfull of my close relatives read the unedited 450 page finished book and without sounding too over confident they have not had a bad word to say about it,apart from some spelling and timeline issues they have all given me encouraging 11 out of 10 glowing revues.
Not much Christmas robot themed presents, but here is a seasonal Iron Jack Lock Jaw picture showing the few bits I have been given .A cool tin robot biscuit tin a ceramic robot money box ,a vintage Chinese space tank and the mechanical brain cheap repro.
I will keep everyone informed of my book progress and shall certainly be visiting answering posts on all aspects of robot collecting in the new year.

I have had the Lion one before, and I remember at the time of owning it that it had all the qualities in a robot that I did NOT like. These 80's Taiwan robots just seem to go way over the top, like they have never heard the saying 'sometimes less is more'.Having said that I think Astrogonza's [ minus the Sword?] is a future classic, and I am not even joking! :D

Sorry guys ,but I had to bring this thread back to the top for a while,,,I have been trying to contact Joe to find out the overall cost of the poster plus postage.
    Thanks :)

Joe,,,,,,,,,The poster arrived yesterday,,A fantastic poster and a great bit of packaging. I havn't had time to frame it yet,but eventually it will be well worthy of a prime spot somewhere in my house.
Could you tell me how much I owe either here or through a PM ,then I will sort it out with nasa and pay him by pay pal. Thanks again for all your hard work,,I could see the postage cost was quite high but it is worth the extra cost knowing it got here undamaged and in one piece. :)

Joe,,,I ordered a number 1 poster ages ago...I have offered to pay you via other U.S Alphadrome members.Up untill now you have given me no idea if I will be recieving a poster.
I appreciate this is all a lot of work for you,I was just hoping that with the kind offers of help from the other members my order would not be ignored.
You can PM me or answer here if you want.
    Thanks
    Steve.

Beautiful photos TM93,,,,,Now I'm guessing Mike will be on an extensive tour of the U.S.A.
Maybe in about 1 years time we should all start thinking about condensing and catologing Mikes best bit's .

I'm sure there is a book there somehow :)
  15. Sparkrobot added a post in a topic: Should I Do It?

Tinhead,,,,,,I sort of admire your bravery,,You obviously love this 'new' robot to even consider buying it......Personaly,if I had that sort of money to spend on a robot ,I love so many 'proven' classic robots that even though I would be buying them because I love them, I would also have the 'cushion' if things got so bad I had to sell it would be probable I would atleast get my money back.
The limited Metal House you are considering to my mind is far more risky in the short term,it could even start to devalue  ,,,,,In the long term,,Your guess is as good as mine  :)
