I saw one of these demonstrated at the FIRST Robotics New England championship last year. It is even more impressive in person.

You can also buy super glue debonder (pace Z-7 debonder) at hobby shops, craft stores and on line.

  4. Electric Robot and Son added a post in a topic: Alps Door Robot

I have seen boxed Door robots (ALPS) with two types of remotes. (1) A light green remote with yellow buttons and a slightly curved top and bottom and a green wire pair. The ALPS Rocketman robot uses the same remote in a light metallic blue color. (2) A lightblue remote with a flat top and curved bottom with red buttons. I've seen these remotes with a light blue wire pair and a red/blue twisted wire. I have only seen the curved top and bottom remotes used on ALPS toys. The flat top and flat bottom remotes are more commonly seen on non robot toys. However I would not be surprised if wire colors may have changed during long production runs.

You are absolutely right. I have never seen the revell model kit before, but there is no doubt the Waco was copied.

Very nice Steve! Beautiful integration of repurposed parts. The elevating stand is a nice touch. I'm guessing about 15" tall?

Congratulations Brian! The box art is great even if it doesn't resemble what's inside. The metallic x-200s look great.

  11. Electric Robot and Son added a post in a topic: Irwin Toys

Does anyone have any information about Irwin Toys (made in USA)? They made a lot of toys in the 1950s including the Space Ship Express, Space gun, Man from Mars, and the Flashing RocketShip Space Pistol. Where were they located? Are they the same company as the Canadian Irwin Toys that exists now?

Very cool John! Do you any pictures of the inside of the robot?

I was watching this auction, but it wasn't spacey enough for me to bid on.

Looks really great Bill! Is the space ceiling light in the cabinet or a reflection of it on the ceiling?

About Me

My son Brian started collecting toy robots in the mid 80's. Brian was born with cerebral palsy. He had multiple disabilities but a great smile and bright red hair. When he was young I would adapt toys to work with a big switch he could operate. We tried all kind of toys but Brian's favorites were Robots! They came in all shapes and sizes, with flashing lights, spinning gears, shooting ray guns and made all kind of spacey sounds. He started collecting robots and I got carried away buying them for him. We found them in stores, yard sales, Flea markets, Toy shows, Toy shop newspaper and finally Ebay. Brian died in 2007 but his robot collection lives on.

Howdy, Sorry, It wasn't me. I wonder if it might have been dr.atomic. He has a big collection of ray guns. If not, you ought to just post a question as to who has a way of displaying and people will show and tell. Good luck!

    Hello:

I am brand spanking new to this site, having just purchased a set of tin litho ray guns off of ebay and I'm looking to create a display rack for them. If I'm not mistaken, you posted a photo of a rack that you created for your ray guns that looks awesome! I was curious if you would be willing to share your design and "how to" as Im am not that familiar with...
