I think Patrol Robot happens to be one of the nicest in this series and reminiscent of the Patrol Robot from the Kitahara Museum which gives it legitimacy as being far more than just a Smoker. It's been said a 1000 times before by all of us collectors, "buy what you like" but why knock what other people like just because you don't?
Sounds like this topic has become a biased opinion of who's their favorite designer. Like Dr. Atomic said, Mr. Mercury is not appealing to him, but it is to others. I personally like Diamond Planet, but many people hate it.
Chief Robotman, Radical Robot, Mr. Chief, Chief Smoky, Mighty Robot, etc, etc, are some of the most desireable robots. Do you think people in the 1950's said, yeah, that was the robot KO sold last year but they only changed the color, or all they did was change the head? I doubt anyone said anything like this, because they were just $5 toys back then. Now that robot collecting has become a world wide phenomena, all of the sudden everyone thinks what they make is the best. It's all good as long as it is a robot.
Wouldn't it be nice if Alphadrome maintains a positive force to promote our great hobby which we are all very passionate about and obviously opinionated, rather than a personal place to put down others. How about we embrace every one of these designers, manufacturers or whatever you want to call them which includes mainly Riggs, Papasan, Schylling, Metal House, OTTI, and of course Gosses.
PS. My 2 favorite designs of the year are Riggs Laughing Robot and Papasan Patrol Robot. The oddest design - Metal House's Hex Head.
