Either way it's a wonderful find and a throwback to pre-Ebay days when a potential "surprise" could be just behind the doors of an antique, thrift or second-hand store. Even better that it was in the neighborhood!

Thanks, Fineas. I actually have this gun in an older version -- dark blue with "Rocket Gun" embossed across it. Not that I wouldn't have minded this particular model. I knew the inclusion of the box would drive it up to at least low Earth orbit. You can always tell the newer models, they have astronauts depicted wearing Mercury Program garb on.

    Tinplate:
It's a beut, and I cherish my blue silver one -- but your red one really pops! Nice snag.

Hey, everyone. This is the 6-inch version, as described in the ad. This is not the smaller Palmer Plastics Space clicker as named by Eugene Metcalf in his classic "Ray Gun" book.

This looks practically identical to my black Park Plastics Space Water Pistol circa 1954.

It's a beaut, Doc! Like an archiological dig, your "find" adds to the collective enjoyment that is... (drum roll, please)..."Space Gun Collecting at its Finest!" I lift my glass of scotch to you!

Tinplate: Way to preserve history! This "Plain Jane" was wearing a silk gown after all. Your small investment in time, money and imagination is a contribution to all of us who find a pastime spending time in future's past. Thank you!

Welcome, Tyler. I can tell you have the "collecting and displaying genes" in you. It will be fun to watch your collection grow!
  9. Ogdorg added a post in a topic: Finally Got My Rayguns On Display

ER&S: Fantastic display -- Obviously a lot of care went into it -- your collection screams 'fun"! After all, these are toys. Well done!

I have no way of knowing if the space-theme roll of paper with my Jet-Zoom came with the gun or was a replacement. My Gun does have the black innards and trigger-pull -- perhaps those had the space-themed roll. Someone knows. Let's dig him or her up from their grave. One zap from the Jet-Zoom should wake 'em up.

If I remembered how to post a picture I would. The graphics on the paper roll from my Jet-Zoom Gun show a blue spinning top-like spaceship encircled by a red ring. A small image of Saturn in red, along with two blue stars, float peacefully in the cosmos on the white background.

Forget the heart. What if it was painted a nice KIDNEY color.

Not sure how rare or expensive it was, but it sure would be fun to paint one.

I do believe versions of the Razer will far outlive our planet.

Ahhhh the good old days, back before smoking space guns were banned from public places.
