I've been after this robot for quite a while ,and on impulse I've bought one with quite a few issues, now it looks like I'm gonna have to join the crew of Alphadrome restorers,,hopefully I can get him to spark into life without any help at all,,If I cant get him to work I think I will be able to atleast get him to display well..As you can see by the picture the main issue is his arms,,he's missing his hands,,I've seen a company that sell the arms for $75 each,,not too bad but I think I've allready overpaid for a non working example,,so on the off chance I'm looking for a couple of slightly cheaper arms from you guys..Well it's worth atry anyway.. blush.gif biggrin.gif wink.gif

Good luck finding the lttle fella some arms, Spark. Just curious are you able to win robots on eBay locally (I assume there is an eBay UK) or do most have to swim over from the US? Probably a little of both?

Also I'd not mind taking a look at that company that sells parts if they have a website, might be a good bookmark to have for future reference or if there was ever a (GASP) injury. smile.gif

Hey Spark,

Let me do a little digging. I cast arms for my guys a couple years ago.
I made plenty before I got the color just right, and I'm pretty sure I
saved all the first attempts. If you don't mind having to paint them
red, I think I can come up with a couple of arms for you. smile.gif

And Scott, try this link.....classic tin toy

Robob,,,,,,Well that's Jolly decent of you old chap tongue.gif No seriously that's great if you can find them,,I will give you my email if it happens,,The colour match should be easy, also I might be able to use them to make a mould,,[I might need a few tips though]......
Scott C,,,,,,When I click robot onto ebay,,the search options come up Europe and I only usually get about 900 items, then when I broaden it to Worldwide it usually go's to 3000 items,,well thats how I do it anyway..As it goes the Blink-a-Gear was in England so I will save on postage costs, and the dreaded customs charges ohmy.gif which we sometimes get over here.. smile.gif I nearly forgot,,the link for parts is the same as Robobot just posted..

Bob, Spark, thanks for the link. Good stuff to know, a few bargains on there but a quite a few as well could easily push a robot with missing parts into the stratosphere. I guess it depends on whether you are talking about a $2,300.00 or a $230.00 piece too. Fun to look at though.

And glad it sounds like Bob might have the goods for an arm transplant! Woo Hoo!

A few years ago I bought some repro cast resin arms for my digitally challenged Blink-a-Gear. Don't remember from whom, (I could look it up if anyone cares) and the instructions said the arms would be brittle and were only intended for use in a display piece. They were brittle. (understatement) blink.gif When I opened the box, it was full of tiny red resin pieces- they had both disintegrated. I contacted the seller, who sent me another set.... which arrived in the same condition. I asked for another set, and they arrived intact, but several different shades apart from each other. I shipped them back and received an intact, properly colored set, which I have been too scared to attempt to install. Maybe after I retire, when I have more time & patience.

WJN,,,,,,,,,Phew,,,,,,,I dont like the sound of that!! sad.gif Still thanks for the thought,,I think I will hang on and see what I can do when I get him,,it's actually only the hands that are missing ,so if I get a clear enough picture I might be able to make some hands myself..Thanks again but the 'brittle' bit sounded too scary... ohmy.gif biggrin.gif

I've actually considered filling the hollow side of the arms flush with some kind of clear epoxy or something similar to increase the strength, but maybe I will find some good originals before it comes to that.
