If you'd like to contribute records for the database then simply post them in this forum - just start a new topic.

Ideally there should be one large photo combining different aspects of the raygun: gun, box, color variations. I hesitate to offer the following advice: the text should be an objective (dispassionate, balanced etc) review of the known information. Of course it's like Wikipedia: new information will replace old information so don't be offended if your words get altered. Essentially, if your text isn't altered then this database isn't doing its job.

Thanks Phil, that will make a good start. Can I suggest some improvements:

I notice, that the pictures are separate. The composite is ideally one photo that combines the images into one picture to illustrate all aspects of he partictular gun. I wouldn't know which pictures belong together. Much of the fun is in assembling such a picture.

In addition there are images which are explicitly copyrighted and which I can't use.

Nothing's easy!

Phil, Is that date on the box? The reason I ask is that the logo looks VERY Star Wars(ish) and the back has what looks like a Stormtrooper as well as what looks like a cross between Vader and Chewbacca wielding a lightsaber. That could be closer to 1979 or it's a HUGE coincidence how much it looks like a SW knock-off and I've seen a LOT of knock-offs over the years. The funny thing is that in the past month I've encountered at least 5 or 6 I'd never even heard of since I've been here.

John

I did a quick check in the Google News Archive and found this entry Herald Journal dated 3rd December 1978 and Reading Eagle dated 4th October 1979. There are also a couple of newspapers dated November 1978 which give a brief written mention for it.

BUB-L-ROCKET GUN

Mfg. by Kenner products-1960s
Came in box and on card as Captain Space Bub-L-Rocket

7-1/2" plastic - came in yellow, red, blue with 2 accent colors

Function-blowing in end to produce bubbles with fluid

The Bub-L-Rocket is definitely a 1950s gun. Again, probably earlier in the decade.

This looks practically identical to my black Park Plastics Space Water Pistol circa 1954.
